Join with Greenpeace to ban plastic pollution
Plastic pollution is killing our marine life. Turtles find it impossible to tell the difference between floating plastic bags and jellyfish. When a plastic bag gets trapped in a turtle’s stomach, the air pocket causes the turtle to float. Unable to swim, or get food, the turtle dies slowly, exposed to all the elements on the surface of the ocean. This is just one tragic consequence of plastic pollution – our marine life is literally suffocating on trash.
Greenpeace is an independent campaigning organisation that uses non-violent direct action to expose global environmental problems and to force solutions which are essential to a green and peaceful future. Greenpeace’s goal is to ensure the ability of the earth to nurture life in all its diversity.
Greenpeace’s core values are;
Independence: they do not accept money from governments, corporations or political parties because it would compromise their core values.
Bearing witness: their peaceful protests work to raise awareness and bring public opinion to bear on decision-makers.
Non-violent direct action: they strongly believe that violence in any form is morally wrong and accomplishes nothing. Greenpeace takes non-violent direct action at the point of an environmental crime to expose an environmental problem.
Greenpeace uses our generous gifts to:
- Investigate and bear witness to environmental destruction.
- Take action to expose issues in creative and non-violent ways.
- Develop and champion green and just solutions to these issues.
- Challenge our political and economic leaders to drive change.
- Inspire people to join you in taking action to protect our planet.
