Activists have installed secret cameras in slaughterhouses and they have caught on camera animals being hacked, dismembered and decapitated all while alive and conscious. Due to this footage, and also massive public pressure, France has just passed a law forcing slaughterhouses to install cameras in abattoirs following all the shocking revelations about their conditions and the unbearable levels of animal cruelty that they allow, revealed in the secret footage. The Government in Israel now also requires 24 hour slaughter surveillance.
Scientists have proved that many animals have the same emotions and awareness as toddlers and thus it is inhumane that they are mistreated this way in slaughterhouses. It’s time to stop torturing them in this sickening way. We can join with Avaaz to stop the slaughterhouse torture.
Avaaz empowers millions of people from all walks of life to take action on pressing global, regional and national issues, from corruption and poverty to conflict and climate change. The Avaaz community campaigns in 15 languages, served by a core team on 6 continents and thousands of volunteers. They take action — signing petitions, funding media campaigns and direct actions, emailing, calling and lobbying governments, and organizing “offline” protests and events — to ensure that the views and values of the world’s people inform the decisions that affect us all.
Avaaz wants to take this campaign global and bring 24 hour surveillance to every slaughterhouse.
“If each of us chips in now, Avaaz’ll buy the cameras, fund undercover journalists to get footage, and then run massive exposé campaigns in the media to force governments to make this violence illegal, and continue fighting to protect animals everywhere.” – Avaaz
