Join with Oxfam to bring back funding to the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples
Australia’s First Peoples have a powerful vision of a country where every family has the opportunity to thrive. The National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples is the national representative body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. They are the national voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples with members from each State and Territory. Their members are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and organisations. Through their participation and decision-making, the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples defend their rights and protect their unique heritage as the First Peoples of Australia. Congress strives for equality, freedom and opportunity. They are focused on their peoples’ ability to make decisions and to control their lives and communities.
The Australian Government is failing Australia’s First Peoples, making unfair decisions that are condemning communities to acute poverty and injustice, to poor education and poorer health, and to places like Don Dale Youth Detention Centre.
Our First Peoples still experience unacceptable levels of disadvantage. They continue to be isolated at the margins of the national debate. Policies relating to them continue to be made for, and to, but not with them. Yet, transformation of this situation is possible. The National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples is a vital voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It’s speaking out and leading the charge for positive change, but the Government has slashed its funding.
Phoenix Rising For Children (PRFC) is an accredited out-of-home or foster care agency providing services in Sydney, including the greater metropolitan areas, Central Coast and parts of the Hunter region of NSW, Australia. PRFC was founded in 2001 to provide quality foster care to children and young people in NSW, including contemporary, quality, family-based foster care and effective and specialist support services to children and young people and their families.
